Department of Occupational Therapy at the College of Allied Medical Sciences Kuwait University

The College of Allied Medical Sciences at Kuwait University established the Department of Occupational Therapy in 2009. The program is the first of its kind in the Gulf region and the second in the Middle East. The program has been internationally accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists since 2009.

Lectures and tutorials are delivered in English. It is also the language used to communicate in the College of Allied Health Sciences. The first year of the program includes core subjects in science and English. The second, third, and fourth years include the core courses of occupational therapy and related subjects. These include disorders of physical function. neuroscience. Hand injuries Mental health. Pediatrics. Human Factors Science. Rehabilitation of the elderly. and kinesiology.

The clinical phase of education begins in the third year of the program. Students apply what they have learned academically in hospitals and clinics. This is done in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in Kuwait. Students are supervised by qualified professionals.

Education in occupational therapy is offered at the bachelor’s and master’s level at Kuwait University’s College of Allied Medical Sciences.
